Nice to see the postal zone 17

in the address before Zip Codes

At that time we were also using

words for the 1st 2 phone numbers

such as Circle 5 9770 which still

is the backstage phone at the Beck

(now renamed the Al Hirshfeld)

And we "dialed" those numbers!

Yup that was on simple interupt

rotary finger in the hole spring

wound return technology that still

works perfectly to this day

With ALL the many advances in

telecommunications worldwide the

earliest phones will still function

on our fiber optic lines (wow)

Backward compatible. It's interesting that the voice quality is even better on the Old rotary phones over fiber too!

If it was built by Western Electric

anytime since their inception in

1869 it will work forever & does

Since interrupt dialing has been

maintained as an option to tone

I can tap out any number either

domestic or foreign on the oldest

upright (candlestick) instrument

& make the connection (astounding)

In my kolekshun of krap I have

working phones of most vintages

that are used as show props
