Hi Buckles Just saw an article about a new tented theater for Chicago What caught my eye was that Allen Bloom's son Randy is a partner in the presenting company Chicago is to have a big new entertainment venue this summer, a 70-foot-tall, 22,000-square-foot tent that will seat as many as 2,500 patrons who will be served up a variety of populist live shows, including tributes to Elton John, Michael Jackson and ABBA, and an adult-oriented circus known as "La Soiree." The tent, dubbed the Riverfront Theater, is being pitched next to the Chicago Tribune Freedom Center. The Tribune Co. is a full, revenue-sharing partner in this enterprise, alongside two experienced entertainment entrepreneurs: Robert Butters, a former executive with Andrew Lloyd Webber's Really Useful Group, and Randy Bloom, who has long produced arena and theatrical tours for the likes of Warner Bros., Nickelodeon, HIT Entertainment and Feld Entertainment. Butters has his own New York-based ticketing operation

I didn't get to know Randy but I
had great respect for his dad as
well as for Isreal Irvin Chuck
& Jerry (the sole survivor)
They were a great team together
Chic,
I knew Randy, as well as his sister Candice quite well. Randy is a quiet, down to earth guy, much like his father Allen was. I suspect he will be quite successful in any promotional venue he is involved with. He fully understands the "nut's and bolt's" of the promotional game after working with Allen when he was with NASCAR and when asked about the success of the Bloom inspired promotion to give a free ticket for life to Ringling Bros. Circus, to every child born in the United States in 1993, resulting in them being accompanied by a souvenir buying parent, Randy was quoted "A hard business result for a good-hearted reason."
As Allen used to say "Circus for the masses, not the classes." What a marketing juggernaut Allen, Jerry, and the rest of that team was.
