Just for pleasure-sake, I am also attaching a marvelous old news photo from a 1944 Chicago paper. It shows rehearsals of the elephant number at Chicago's Soldiers Field in preparation of the re-opening of the big one, following the Hartford fire. The news "slug" is also included. I'm pretty sure that the balding gent at about center of the photo, on the botom edge of the image, is circus fan (Dr.) H.H. Conley. Thought you folks would enjoy this one! |
