The 1964 North American tour was partially the result of the flood of invitations the School had received after the release of the Disney film MIRACLE OF THE WHITE STALLIONS. Up to that time, the School’s Lipizzaners had only traveled twice. Their first trip occurred in 1950, when they visited the United States and Canada on a special tour dedicated to the memory of General George S. Patton, Jr., in appreciation for his having saved the school’s stallions and mares during World War II. Their other trip was a visit to Berlin to participate in some special ceremonies.
