The New York parade of 1945 (not 1943) was the first time that the Ringing-Barnum circus took to the streets of Manhattan since 1920.

The parade of 1945 started at Madison Square Garden at 49th Street, went south on Eighth Avenue to 34th Street (where the current MSG now stands), east to Broadway, north through Times Square to Seventh Avenue to 57th Street where it turned west to Eighth Avenue and then back to the old Garden.

The Ringling-Barnum parade was held on April 9, 1945 and coincideded with the kickoff of the Seventh War Loan - the last big push to attract bond sales in World War II - specifically for the war in Japan. The government was concerned that with the defeat of Nazi Germany, Americans might not become complacent and more money was needed for the war in the Pacific. That spring the 7Seventh War Loan raised 156-billion dollars.
