Hello Buckles,
My best wishes to you for a very happy birthday. I hope you enjoy the day with your family.

I think your photos might be mislabled. These are not from 1943 but from May 15,1948.
This was a parade for the Crusade For Children (a United Nations charity)that the circus participated in.
You will notice the floats are from the 1948 spec..."Twas the night before Christmas".
All the best,
Dom

Although this terrific set of photos is dated 1943, I'm wondering if this is in fact the big War Bond parade that Ringling put on in New York April 9, 1945.

Of course, these photos may have been taken in a city other than New York in 1943 - but it wasn't until the 7th Liberty Loan of 1945 that the circus held a war bond parade in Manhattan.

Another clue, in 1943, the new Liberty Bandwagon was a feature on the show. It would seem that they would have put Merle and the boys on the Bandwagon - especially one that trumpeted LIBERTY if the idea was to promote war bonds and if this was in fact from '43....

Buckles,
Sorry I forgot to mention that the photos were taken in Boston.
