To Gary Hill

This was another long march at the LA County Fair.
We showed in front of the grandstand but kept the elephants in a remote area of the Fairgrounds due to Pari-Mutual horse racing in the afternoons.
Some of the acts had to work on the stage between races and I loved it after the horses had thundered down the home stretch and Phil McDonald would say, "And now ladies and gentlemen, for your entertainment, the Juggling Flugsnorts!"
Immediately a chorus of Boos would come from the losers. I remember one guy, who had probably just blown his weeks salary yelling, "Get those fucking people out of the way. I can't see the Tote Board!"
What, and get out of show business?
As soon as the last race was over they would set up the rings on the track, the aerial riggings remained upright in the infiield throughout.
So we only did night performances for the run of the Fair except for Sundays when gambling wasn't allowed.

Buckles,
Is this the Kenya that went to the Louisville Zoo or the one who went to Pete Luvas?
