I seem to recall a similar photo

where the ball had more segments

& no center star but most likely

with the same young elephant

This is "Anna May".
Wayne Sanguin had the Choctaw County Surveyor figure out the dimensions which Wayne cut out of a sheet of metal and then welded together into a globe like replacing the peelings of an orange.

I just found & sent you the photo

mentioned where it appears to be

the same ball with more segments

painted (more time consuming) so

the repaint took less time

That looks like a Siebrand Bros truck- when were you over there; about 1952 or so?

That's the carnival that was used in the movie "Some Came Running."

Siebrand Bros. in 1952 was the debut for the Miller-Woodcock Elephant Act.
Having never learned the art of driving an automobile, I opted to return to K-M for summer vacation from High School where I worked on the Side Show for Mel Lewis.

Oscar Cristiani had a metal ball for an elephant. Was it the same ball?

It occurs to me cutting the segments is one challenging task, but bending them to come together for a perfect sphere points to a master prop builder and/or a master welder.

Brings to mind the time we were waiting for Spec while Charly berated some show girl for being late.
After she got up on her elephant I overheard her say to the girl next to her, "How can you hate a guy that's got glitter on his balls!"
