The second Curry painting was THE FLYING CODONAS, which, according to the original caption, “shows the Great Alfredo Codona just after leaving his trapeze, spinning in air. He hopes to come out of the spin, a triple somersault, just in time to catch the hands of his brother Lala, who has brought his trapeze almost up to the dizzy moment of a pause at the end of the swing. The Whitney Museum of New York owns this vital Curry canvas.” |
