In recent years Ringling introduced huge video and light screens. The first video screens placed near the portal were leased and use of them was dropped after the 136th and 137th editions. They were followed by seven show-owned light screens (three on each side and one on the end opposite the portal) on the 138th. Both types of units were considered too fragile to withstand the potential of a rough train ride. Shown here is operator Chris Somer at his control panels located on the arena floor when the Blue show (138th ed) played Hershey, PA, in 2008. |

Hey that looks like " Big Top " from Baraboo's C.W.M. ---- never knew his last name ---- in fact , we all knew him as just "Big Top " ---- way to go Chris !!!
I bet that the video screens, special lighting effects, mega sound system, etc. account for most of the budget for producing the show. It makes one long for the good old days when all they gave us were a few colored spotlights plus Gunther Gebel-Williams, Charly Baumann, the Woodcock Family elephants, etc.
