The best thing about the after-show wrestling match on the Cole Show was Col. Harry Thomas' pitch. After introducing all the cowboys and cowgirls he would bring in the villianous Jimmy Ray and announce that an award of $50 would be presented to anyone who could withstand his power for a certain amount of time. The "stick" was a good looking young fellow from the cook house Red Russell? who came down from the seats explaining he was just home from the Marines. When asked if he had any wrestling experience he said, "No, but I was taught Jui-Jitsu prior to fighting in the Pacific", of course the audience received this information with considerable glee, much to the dismay of Jimmy Ray. Col. Thomas would leave it up to the audience to decide if Jui-Jitsu should be included in the combat and needless to say the after-show held the majority of the crowd.
Surprisingly Otto (out of make up) was the referee. He was very enterprising, he got a few bucks extra for doing this and was also allowed to sell work clothes to the working men. My mother often bought things for me.
When Jimmy was thrown during the match, he would complain bitterly to the referee but Otto would reply, "No it's OK he was using joo-jitsy!"

Otto "Out of Make-up", looks just like Otto "In Make-up". I think that almost everyone on every show finds someway to make a couple of extra bucks. ~frank
For me it was selling "Circus Toys for Girls and Boys" during intermission and during the blowoff.
