Wonderfull Photo - I'm courious about the NAMES of the Sculptors who Sculpted these Wagons Ornate Decoration - Was there a certain group always used - were they like the Bannerline Artists & or Carousel Artists "NOTED" for there Tallents within There Realm ?
The figures on the Barnum & London/Barnum & Bailey fairy tale floats were credited to Thomas White, a sculptor in wood in the employ of Samuel Robb. You can read about this in Fred Fried's book "Artists in Wood." As with much commercial work, one would be hard pressed to find any inscribed initials, much less a signature, on the finished work.
This is Red Riding Hood, which went missing about 1904. For reasons unknown, it was the one chosen to be pulled by a zebra hitch.
