"I often wondered how elephants survuved these open air
bull trucks. Cold and rainy nights in the Spring.
For that matter I was lucky to make it myself since I well
recall traveling inside the sleeper at night.
After hearing the driver shift gears three times
and I knew we were at maximum speed.
My dad had poor vision as did one of the drivers and I
remember him saying they would get out of the cab and
strike a match to see if the telephone pole had any arrows."

Thats how they hauled the big male "Fritzie" when we were on Mills Bros. in 42, and it was a Straight job and the elephant rode backwards.

Buckles, this is one of the best jackpots I have ever read or heard.

I read it to Joyce and she started remembering the foggy night experiences and tornado weather stories of trying to watch for the arrows, etc. Of course, I was totally calm through all of those stories!

Again, thanks for the time you spend for all of us.
