More 1947 National Geographic #1

Scan00000010143, originally uploaded by bucklesw1.

This comes from the March 1948 issue of the magazine but the pictures
were taken the previous season in both the Garden and on tour.

I suppose most everyone has a copy of this but I enjoyed Jackie LeClair's comments on the clown pictures sent previously, I thought a few more might be fun.

Just looked through all of these, absolutely wonderful. Can't believe how well they scanned. How about a few more tomorrow?!

This can be no one else but Charlotte Bell, Charlie's daughter. First married to Freddy Canestrellie and later Frank Cora. Tosca one of her daughters became an aerialist doing Cloud Swing. My father Jack, used to always say that Charlotte had the biggest, greatest smile in the ring than anyone he had ever knew.

I remember Frank and Charlotte Kora when they were on Ringling concessions. Any idea when they were last there? Her personality was as warm as that smile in this picture.

Frank died a few years back but in

the last several years of his life

he operated a specialty towel &

linen shop in the Red Barn Market

in Bradenton & coincidently his

daughter Tosca showed up in a

news photo a few days ago with

the caption that she was working

on costumes for "Wonderland"

which is currently running for

2 weeks in Tampa before another

try at going to Broadway which

didn't happen last year

PS Frank had a twin brother &

Tosca is maried to Duady Fornisari

Frank & Charlotte also had the

front lobby stand for Sells Floto

at the St James Theater during the

run of "Barnum" as part of the

deal made with the Feld's for a

late extra money investment

There was hell to pay when Roland Kaiser gave Tosca's sleeping compartment to me and another 'constashioneer' one year. Frank and Marty could be VERY scary guys when they wanted to be.

Tosca became and excellent performer and was married to Henry Schroer, Gunther's right hand man. ~frank
