Not sure if have heard by now...My dad (Bill Griffith) died in October. We are going through his estate trying to figure out what to save and what to sell. Do you have any idea if there is a better place to sell the circus-related things, like posters, than ebay? I appreciate any advice you can give me. I haven't really stayed in touch with the circus world, beyond reading your blog now and then.

Linda

"I am not that familiar with the value of circus memorabilia and know even less about eBay but maybe someone on the Blog could be of help. I was saddened to hear of your loss, Bill was a great guy."

Worthpoint.com features information about antiques and collectibles. I write a blog for that site about buying and selling circus memorabilia and currently have 47 articles posted. You might be able to find some of that information helpful. Here’s a link to my profile page. At the bottom of the profile you’ll see a link that says “Click here to view Larry’s articles.” http://www.worthpoint.com/profile/index?userInfo1Id=14

Linda,
Our dads were good friends and both printers. I still collect circus paper, but I also deal in it and the market is much smaller than it was 20 or 30 years ago.

My advise would be to take your time and don't throw anything away
whether it is circus related or anything else that is old.

There are several auction houses that specialize in show business items and they seem to get good prices. Perhaps some fan would be able to get the addresses for you.

Also like Harry said, some of us fans still spend money to add to the collections.

Yes, any number of us Fans are still/always interested in adding desirable items to our collections.

For paper/printed items google Swann Galleries in NY City. They have an excellent reputation, have been in business a long time and several of their experts have been on PBS' Antiques Road Show.
