Unaware of who he is talking to, Lou regales Clyde with a fantastic account of his prowess in trapping and training lions.

Buckles,
I don't think we should chastize Bud in this case. Many, many people over the years have made a similar blunder. Years ago, while visiting a show, I was looking at the bears, and noting their poor, skinny condition asked the bear trainer whom I think will probably want to remain nameless, "what kind of bears are those? They are awful small and skinny." He replied, "grizzly bears." I responded, "they look awful small and skinny to be grizzly bears. Plus, they are black." Not recognizing me, as I had only been in show biz for a short time, and assuming I was a town sucker, he told me they were the rare and almost unknown to science, "Alaskan Mountain Grizzly bear", so rare that he in fact, as he gave me their complete "natural history," was the only one currently and training and exhibiting them.
I found James C. Hall who was also visiting that day and relayed what I had been told. Always on the alert for an "agitate" he suggested I take my "friend" over to the bears, and let her hear about "Alaskan Mountain Grizzly bears". I of course, was more then happy to comply.
The look on the bear trainers face was priceless, when he got through telling my "friend" whom he also didn't recognize, about the rairity, value, and difficulty in training them, which is why he was the only one using "Alaskan Mountain Grizzly bears". He almost gagged when I said, "That's most interesting. Let me introduce you to my friend. As you don't recognize her, maybe you have heard of her? This is Herta Klauser Cuneo."
James C. Hall hiding around the corner, doubled over and cackled like a mad man. LOL
