Filmed at the Nassour Studios in Los Angeles, AFRICA SCREAMS was Abbott and Costello's independent production for 1949. (Its title is a take-off on AFRICA SPEAKS, a famous 1930 documentary, narrated by Lowell Thomas.) It was produced by Huntington Hartford, whose family owned the Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company, better known as A&P, which once had some 15,000 supermarkets nationwide. |
