There were a couple of girl pipe bands working in circus in the 1940's and 50's. Thew best known was the Dagenham Girl Pipe Band. Another was the Inverness Girl Pipers. One of the latter group, married an Althoff and now resides in Germany.I met her in Blackpool trhis summer when she was visiting Bobby Roberts Super Circus.
When Mac trained the Polack elephants he named them after their friends, Millie Ward, Betty Bell, Opal Paige. etc. Later he added another he called "Kae". One day I asked Peggy who she was named after and she said Kae Johnson an English girl who worked in a troupe Ethyl Robinson had brought over. Seeing this picture I thought this might be the troupe but I don't recall the Polack Show ever having a Pipe Band. Maybe I'm wrong.
