While searching the winter quarters, Elliott and his men discover the body of the holdup man who had delivered the suitcase filled with stolen money. Close to the body is found the murder weapon – a circus throwing knife with an unusual metal emblem attached to its handle. Recognizing this unique emblem, Barberini identifies the knife as having once belonged to a famous circus knife thrower who is now deceased. When asked if he knows what became of the performer’s set of throwing knives, Barberini speculates that they were probably passed along to the man’s young son. |
