The 1938 Robbins Bros. Circus opened with 10 elephants under the
direction of John "Monkey Smitty" Smith.
Seven from their Parent Organization Cole Bros. Circus "Ding",
"Big Katy", "George", "Barney", "Modoc". "Empress" and "Judy".
Also included were the three remaining Robinson Military Elephants "Tony", "Pitt" and "Clara" leased from the Robinson family but due to
bad business was returned to Cincinnati early in the season.

The picture above shows the herd later in the season with "Ding" in
the lead followed by "George".

Thanks very much, Buckles. I understand that Jess Atkins, who had the Robbins show, was very much a parade man, while Zach Terrell didn't use parades on the separate 1938 Cole unit.
