From Steve Flint #1

ICHOF 017, originally uploaded by bucklesw1.

Dear Buckles-
(Hopefully) Attached are a couple of photo's from last evenings event of the induction of "Bobo" Barnett being inducted into the International Clown Hall of Fame in Baraboo, WI. The event was well attended by approximately 60 people with Greg and Karen DeSanto making all feel "at home". Receiving the award was Bobo's daughter, Bonnie Barnett and family. Bobo's miniature car, as well as some of his props, are currently on display at the ICHOF. Bobo traveled for many years appearing in many Shrine circuses as well as on Hagenbeck-Wallace and being featured on the Ed Sullivan show. Bonnie introduced her new book, Bobo's Daughter, and hosted a book signing after the evenings events. Great food, friends and conversation were in abundance.

Chic- Yes it started out in Delavan, WI to begin with. It was then decided to move it to Milwaukee, WI into a mall. After a couple of years it went to the Tommy Thompson building at State Fair Park in West Allis, WI and then was packed up and put into storage. Last December Greg and Karen DeSanto moved it all to Baraboo and re-assembled it. They've put in a tremendous amount of time & effort filing, sorting and building new displays. As Greg pointed out Friday evening they have received a lot of help and backing from the community so hopefully it has found its final home. There are A LOT of tresures to be found there.

BOBO BARNETT was over deserving of being inducted into the ICHOF. He was at that time one of the very few clowns who worked solo in a large areana. When he would sit down the ring curb, pick up his cornet and play "Peg Of My Heart" with the entire house blacked out and often only blue spots on him, he took this house down with his pathos. Certainly creative and inovative at that time. I know that he was very secretive about how he got in his little car and would only enter with 4 men covering his actions underneath a small four sided toped canvass blind that hid his entry into the car. Bobo married one of the Presley Twins either Dottie or Dolly. The other married my cousin Art Lind Jr. clown unsupported lader act performer. BOBO truly deserves all acculades that comes his way. He was a great clown and performer and a tribute to the clown world. Jackie LeClaire
