1956 RBBB Book #6

1956 RBBB Book-6, originally uploaded by bucklesw1.

This might be the elephant band that was part of the 1956 “Ringling Rock N’ Roll” elephant number. (Does anyone know what became of the over-sized tubas shown here?)

Buckles,
Given that Howard Tibbals told RJR that "the bars for the outdoor bear cages at the Sarasota quarters were made from the truss rods from under the old wooden flat cars which were discontinued after the 1928 season". Without having had the chance to consult Mr. Tibbal's, or the opportunity to journey into the inner sanctum and pester Israel Feld, as RJR has had, I am going to go out on a limb here, and suggest that the tuba's were probably rehashed as hay rings with attached water bucket, for either the Gnu or the Fallow Deer(recall Gargantua had the tire). But that is just a guess, and someone please correct me if I am wrong. I don't see the tuba's as being of much use to the hippo department, other then for habitat enrichment.
