Looks odd with inside quarters

within the rings as if the top

& the ground plan were a mismatch

Was that ever the practice

I am always in awe thinking of

the rquired patience for models

Looks like they didn't have room to put up the big top and had to use the menagerie top for the display. Everything else is there down to the mud blocks on the center poles. In 3/4 inch scale a bigtop with say 180 with 3-50's is over 11' wide not counting the stake line and over 20' long, plus the stake line.
Great detail, and thank you for sharing the photos.

Thanks Anony Mouse

That would explain a number of

the strange proportions

Why can't you sign your name

Obviously they are late on set up and prop guys want to get done. Big top guysw still have to straighten the quarters and guy out the top. The will take the "single tree" and lift the quarters in place. On a circus sometimes the "impossible" takes about thirty minutes.tanglefoot

When I was on the reat Circus Vargas it was not unusual for ring curbs to cross over street curbs and storm drain grating to be in the ring. Quarter poles were just a minor problem to ride the horse around. Sometimes ring would be part bon blacktop and part on grass. If elephant herd was on the high side of the tent the urine would run thru the tent. The good old days in the malls. Tanglefoot
