In his book, THE NATURE OF THE BEAST, Hans Brick tells of being among those who rescued Weedon from a violent attack. Weedon had five 6-month-old lions in the arena, just for exercise and free time. He entered to walk among them and move them around. In a flash, the youngsters became a pride gang and brought Weedon down. Brick relates that Weedon was "dreadfully injured before we could get him out". Brick was not being critical of Weedon, but illustrating that the power of instinct promises a threat from lions of any age.
