The see-saw and the wheel were popular tricks in this era. Mabel told me about the wheel she had. The tiger would run in place, as the platform spun at varying speeds. One must admire the training needed here, demanding an incredibly stable animal who would remain aboard, and running, with a surface spinning beneath his feet. Trainers understood that the hazards of this trick are many, and most came from the mechanics of the prop. Mabel had a brake on hers, as most did, but to apply it, she had to haul down on a handle, putting her in immediate reach of an already agitated tiger. All considered, the wheel wasn't worth it, and soon fell out of favor.
