Coney Island Elephants-10, originally uploaded by bucklesw1. Under the supervision of technicians from the Edison Company, electrodes were attached to Topsy’s right front leg and left rear leg. With an Edison motion picture cameraman filming the entire event, the switch was thrown and Topsy received a charge of 6,600 volts. It was over in about 10 seconds. (All things considered, this was probably a more humane death than the one accorded to Black Diamond.)
