These booklets were printed over a spanse of years, especially prominent during the Richards and Horne era. The same photos and text continued to appear in subsequent editions with rare changes. Ever notice circus programs in this trend?
Note the address of 2034 Ventura Blvd. This was before the completion of US 101, coming north as the Hollywood Freeway, then becoming the Ventura Freeway. With this development, what had been the road to Ventura, as many roads did then, going right through a town as a Business Route, there came the name change to Thousand Oaks Blvd., but the address remained 2034. The 4-digit phone number also dates this item. In my time, our number was (805) 495-2122, which remains the number for Animal Actors of Hollywood, owned since the 1969 closing by Hubert Wells, Roland Raffler, and Cheryl Shawver. In time, Hubert and Roland retired. Animal Actors came under the sole ownership of Cheryl, and the phone number is still the same.
Chucko (Chuck Runyon) was present for many special occasions such as enhanced shows at Easter, Memorial Day, and Labor Day weekends, and for dates of other special promotion. Once his local TV show cancelled, he was often on the lot as a birthday clown. His son, Randy, 14 years old in a photo dated April 1969, was expert as a juggling unicyclist and was a regular in our Big Stage Arena shows. The Runyons were a great family, and among the nicest people to work around the Old Compound.
"I'm Chucko, I'm Chucko, I'm Chucko the Birthday Clown! I'm Happy, I'm Happy, I'm Happy All Day Long!" According to the official Emmy website, sadly Chucko passed away earlier this year. ~frank
