A side-by-side comparison of the Chicago program and the “official” 1944 Ringling program does reveal some slight changes in the production staff credits. In the Circus’ 1944 program Bert Knapp (who had helped compose the spec music) is listed as Director of Music, while Merle Evans is listed only as Bandmaster. In the Chicago program, Bert Knapp is listed as Musical Composer, and Merle Evans is now listed as Director of Music.
