Bill Emery #1

Scan12047, originally uploaded by bucklesw1.

Posing with "Sid" circa 1902 with Forepaugh-Sells.
My dad always regarded him as one of the top elephant trainers of his day. His credentials are very impressive but for some reason, never seemed to remain at one place for very long.

I note what you say about Bill Emery being an outstanding trainer. My father told me the same having been around the old timers in those days and of course we would hail Gardner, Reed, Woodcocks, MacDonald, Smokey, Rex, etc. Now in No stretch of imagination would the two persons involved in the latest disgusting Ringling video be remotely considered as "trainers".

Johnny,
Tell the folk's how you or nobody you know curses an animal. The deal about an elephant man not calling them "bulls", but instead, elephants if he was worth his salt was classic gold.

I'm very pleased to find your blog. My dad worked with Emery in 1933 with the Ringling Brothers. He was Tarzan of the Elephants.
I'm working on his wrestling story now.
