Benny was one of a kind. Paul Ingrassia did a good job of keeping him under control. We all miss this colorful guy.

Let's not forget that when Paul went to work for Circus World Museum and couldn't keep an eye on Benny, Dale and Evelyn Riker did yeoman service keeping Benny until control. For a few years Benny worked the information booth at the Milwaukee parade. When anybody asked Ben a question, he was also reply "Straight ahead," no matter what the question was. Ingrassia and I used to listen with rapt attention when Benny would tell a fifteen minute story about a date he had at Euclid Park in Cleveland in 1921. Ben had an electric razor and it took him about a half hour to shave. Paul and I would just sit in Benny's room at the Spinning Wheel in Baraboo, watching him shave and listening to his bizarre stories. He could be fall on the floor funny.

Great picture of Benny and the lovely Mrs. W. Seeing Ben brings back memories of parties the Cleveland CFA (including Ben, "Doc" Boyle, et al.) would have in the room behind the old Arena which had movable canvas walls with a water view painted on them (have had a couple of folks tell me I'm "mis-remembering" that room -- does anyone else remember it?).
