Buckles,
Thanks for posting these photos on your blog. These young performers have now officially "arrived".
Don C.
Sure looked like "rainy day"
One of my favorite stories
about Miles White long ago
when he asked some performer
about some rather shabby
costume the reply was that
it was "rainy day" to which
Miles replied "It could never
rain that hard"
Who are arnum and ailey? Is this another show we haven't heard about?

Seems like another drunk was
setting the blue vinyl globes
Reminds me of Tommy Cooper
running a couple hundred silk
screened license plates (and
I still have one) "Ringing
Bros." bla bla bla
He cut a second silk to try
to overprint and save them
I just remembered Tommy Cooper's
shop was named PBR Signs which
stood for "Pabst Blue Ribbon"
Tommy did a lot of the signage
at the Venice quarters and some
of the rolling stock
Before that I believe he was
in clown alley
On second glance it seems that
the missing letters are hidden
in a fold of fullness (maybe)
Chic,
I would think that anything that as important as a great name would have someone to check up what the drunks had done before the show.
I know, good help is hard to get, but one would think with millions to spend , someone would check what the thing looks like, before it is seen by the public.

Tommy had worked on the show
for many years and had probably
painted the name three and a half
million times (sometimes even
in a semi sober state) and this
was not a "sanctioned" project
Anybody can make a misteak
Oh Bob
If you are talking about the
calabana that's another whole
issue of probably starting
from both ends and overlapping
wherever they meet
