Another very pretty lady. Not to take away from her photo or act, or the other nice photos..but I wanted to say "Happy Memorial Day" to eveyone, and let's not forget the reason for this holiday. Thanks to all our Veterans, and active duty and especially to our military men and women who have died to keep us all free! To their loved ones who has passed on and to generations to come, God Bless you all!
My uncle, Col. Carl Granberry returned after an heroic several tours of Viet Nam, served two tours of duty as Commancer of Eilson Air Force Base, in Fairbanks, Alaska, and became, as the ranking Colonel Air Force-wide, the Chief of Military Protocol for the Reagan White House. His brother, Lt. Glenn Granberry, was honored for returning repeatedly piloting his copter into heavy fire to rescue our men surrounded by Viet Cong, the last time having two feet torn off his rotor blades by jungle foliage, and taking off to complete the rescue. My cousin, Marty Granberry, served six tours in Iraq, and is now safely home and retired from the Air Force. My grandparents first-born, George Preston Granberry, was killed in action in New Guinea, in World War II, in 1944.
My friend Anna Zarley's daughter serves now aboard the USS Boxer, the ship which returned our Captain Richard Phillips, who was recently saved from the Somalian pirates by our Navy SEALS, for whom my cousin Andrea's husband is an instructor.
God bless all our service members, living and deceased, on this day and every day we live in freedom.
Thanks, Buckles for posting the photos from GeeGee's collection. I'd not seen this photo before of Nini. From left to right, the monkeys are Fatima (yellow baboon), Boonie (himadrayas), Mary (stump-tailed macaque), and Kasha (also a himadrayas). I remember those fur-balls - feisty bunch. I believe that Kasha was the first baboon Nini, herself, first trained and presented, and that the other three were first trained by Mel Hall. He taught Mary to ride the 6-foot giraffe. Mary, being the grand old dame, would fuss at Nini if her uni wasn't positioned properly in the act.
