Dora Franklin photos #1 (From Tim Dain)

dora 68, originally uploaded by bucklesw1.

Hi Buckles,
I wanted to post these pictures on behalf of one of our stage managers here at Disney, Dora Franklin, who worked on RBBB back in the day. Thanks for hosting such a fantastic Blog!

Tim Dain

"There are thirty photos in this set that range from 1967 thru 1976 which will be spread out over the next few days beginning with this shot of Miss Franklin in 1968.
As near as I can figure, her career with the show began when owned by John North and later with both the Red and Blue Units.
You Ringling fans should be able to elaborate on this.
Mr. Dain indicated that she performed in a Bulgarian teeter-board act."

These were probably Max Weldy

costumes prior to Brooks

I can't remember when Don Foote

took over as I had met him when

he was an assistant to Theoni

Aldridge on Broadway

We remember Dora well. Took me a second as she was always known with one of those hard to pronounce and spell Bulgarian last names. She was ver outgoing with pleasant personality and sense of humour. She quickly lost those old country ways and becsme ver Americanized and quite popular on the showw. A big hello to Dora from Johnny, Mary Ruth and the kids [they were kids in those days]

I remember her as well, we had a lot of laughs together. She was Kvetta's best friend. Big hello from me as well. This number was on the Red unit, I think it was the opening.

It has been an honor, a privilege, and a great pleasure to have work with Dora Franklin over the past 20 years at Epcot Entertainment. She is still a lovely lady and an elegant woman who leaves a wake of fans from all the talent that she has managed throughout the years. Dora is also very caring, she always asks about my son Tommy because he needed an operation after his birth. I get to see her husband Bob every year when he leads the fan fair trumpets for our holiday show “The Candlelight Procession.” He is always smiling’ and having a good time and still has chops of steel.
