1974 Ringling-5, originally uploaded by bucklesw1. For some reason, Charly’s tiger act followed Erhard and Christiane Samel’s mixed wild animal act in the second half of the performance. (Having two cage acts almost back-to-back didn’t seem like good programming to me, but there was probably some technical reason for it.) For the 106th edition two years later, Ursula Bottcher’s polar bears appeared in the first half and Charly appeared in the second half, which made better sense.
