I was told three or four days ago that Tim Holst had suffered a stroke while in Brazil and had been hospitalized in serious condition. |

Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family. Tim was one of those rare individuals who made it through the system on perserverance and determination. He will be missed. ~frank
He was truly a gentleman
Very sad news indeed

This is very sad news. I knew Tim since he was a Clown College student and watched him work his way up to the top of the circus business.
Tim was a good man, a good friend. The entire world of circus will miss him terribly.
My heart goes out to his family.
Sorry to hear the news about Tim. He was always good for me to deal with at Ringling, and always very supportive of my efforts with the tent show. Last time we visited was in Paris, several years ago.

Oh my Lord, that is awful and sad. Isn't he married to our old friend, Lisa Dufrence (spelling might not be correct)??? I had heard that a long time ago. She worked on RBBB and Vargas and maybe other shows. Lisa was a wonderful and loving and beautiful lady, always was. I didn't know Tim really, but always heard of how great a man he was and how hard he worked and how he moved up the RBBB ladder thru the years. So sorry to hear about this. Karen Glenn
So sorry to hear about Tim. He was a good friend.
A sad loss for all and deepest sympathy to his entire family. I first met him when he was a freshman ringmaster and eager to learn about the show's history and to collect old Ringling programs. He was a true veteran of the business and one of the most senior in years of service on Ringling. Few people knew the entire world of circus better than Tim. I last saw him when he was in Baltimore just a couple of weeks ago with some of the production people for next year's show.
I was at the blue show's Easter party last Sunday when the news of his heart attack spread among the show--total shock and concern. He maintained a caring interest in every circus family.

After emailing this morning, Bill
Biggerstaff called me and it was
confirmed. I was terribly shocked
to hear of this and the oldtimer's
bridge is getting extremely depleted. My prayers go out to his
family.

The circus world lost a great man of many talents. Having the privilege of knowing Tim since the fall of 1974 when we met during my time at clown college. Tim was a fine clown, a great Ringmaster, a consciences assistant to Bob Dover, and later a brilliant performance director that placed the bar even higher. He proudly and elegantly represented the Greatest Show on Earth all over the world bringing new and innovative acts to the U.S. My deepest respect and sorrow go out to Tims children and family during this unbelievable and difficult time.

My thoughts and ptayers go out to Tim's family.
I first met Tim in Chicago when he was a first of May clown. Sparkey Washburn, a member of the alley introduced us.
Tim said how much he enjoyed being with the Greatest Show on Earth but was sure that after a couple of years he woulb be cut to make room for new Clown College graduates. How wrong he was.
Tim had a distinguished career with the Feld organization - clown, ringmaster, assistant performance director, performance director and Vice President for talent.
He was a creative guy who died too young. I am proud to call him my friend and I will miss him.
I'm proud too to be one of his friend.
He was perhaps the last legend of the last golden era of the Greatest Show on Earth. It was a giant, recognized worldwide, in the line of the Valdo, Bradna, Concello, Rhodin.
He was able to deal with the intricacies of this profession in the most incredible challenges. Everyone knew and respected him in the business around the five continents, from the most remote
family circuses to the great circus buildings. Nobody on earth can follow his path today. A too early loss for the circus world.
Circus friends and family: An email address has been set up to send words of encouragement and condolences to the family. Please send emails to: TimHolstmemories@feldinc.com
I'm sorry to hear of Mr. Holst's passing. I met him a few years back on Ringling, and he asked me about my interest in the circus, and was kind enough to sign my program. My condolences to his friends and family.

When Tim's children learned that their Dad was gravely ill in the hospital in Brazil, Matt promptly made arrangements to fly to San Paulo to be with him and get him safely home for full recovery. Matt arrived as quickly as possible last Tuesday morning and with his sisters Adrienne and Megan, worked diligently to get his US medical records, etc. to the doctors at the hospital. Matt was with him every available moment.
Tim was moved from ICU to a regular room on Wed. in anticipation of being stable enough to fly back to FL a few days later with Matt. Tim was able to enjoy the day with Matt and speak with both of his daughters several times on the phone. On Thurs. evening however, he suddenly had a heart attack and passed away in his son's loving arms. Heartbroken, Matt remaining in Brazil, has bravely been making the necessary arrangements and will be flying with his Dad arriving in the US tomorrow.
In addition to his many friends, Tim is well honored by his three adult children who love him very dearly. It has been a blessing for the family to have had Matt at his side this past week. The weeks ahead will be difficult and the family appreciates the care and condolences extended. He will be greatly missed by all of us. Linda Holst
