"The Wonder Show" #9

In this Charles Bernard picture you can see that for some reason, the herd marched in reverse order with the small elephants in front and the Captain, Vernon "Slim" Walker. on the taill lend.

Reminds me of a Gilbert and Sullivan character:

"In enterprise of martial kind, when there was any fighting,
He led his Regiment from behind, he found it less exciting,
And when away his Regiment ran, his face was in the fore-0,
That celebrated, cultivated, underrated Nobleman the Duke of Plaza Toro"
