Before his act, Vashek would bum a cigarette off one of the tent crew, then hide to smoke it so his wife wouldn't catch him. Strange the little things you remember thirty some years ago. A nice guy, vaya con Dios Vashek. Erik Jaeger
What a good guy. He was with us on Beatty-Cole, in '81. When we played Waco, Texas, he had become suspicious that abdominal pain might be leading to a hernia. I took him to my surgeon there, who fortunately determined that he didn't need surgery. Vashek continued the season in fine form. He carefully filmed and tape-recorded the sights and sounds of the show that year against the day when it might all be gone forever. He came over to tape the feeding of Hoover's cats as part of capturing those sounds that might one day vanish from circus lots. As we say good-bye to a great trouper, let us remain thankful his archives hold these memories in safety for us all.

Things won't be the same without you around.
I will miss you!
