"GRANDMA"
Forepaugh-Lubin Tent members will be tuned for the MACY'S Parade to catch a glimpse of their tent namesake "Grandma" in the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade. Watch for the last wagon the BAC risley act then Grandma on the skateboard..Grandma has become a fixture in the Thanksgiving Day Parade..Next HUGE "Grandma" stop after the BAC Lincoln Center date will be Monte Carlo. Grandma has come along way since Ringling Clown College. Adam Forepaugh- Barry Lubin "Grandma" Tent No.2 has over 100 members. Tent received its originial charter back in April - 1930. Then during 2000 Grandma's name was added to the tent. Just this year The Lubin Tent hosted one of the most successful CFA Conventions in Hershey,PA. For Banquet Speakers we were blessed with John Herriott and Buckles Woodcock....And what a wrap-up in Hershey..Thanks again John and Buckles...Special thanks to Barry Lubin for taking time out of his busy schedule to spent banquet evening with us....
Happy Thanksgiving
I watched the parade today just to see this wagon and they sure didn't do it justice! Only showed it from the front as the cameraman was more interested in the horses!
The weather was perfect for the parade, so spectators turned out in record numbers. The United States bandwagon was a hit all along the parade route. Heavy Burdick and his crew from Baraboo had the wagon in top shape. The sight of the wagon pulled by a team of six matched Percherons driven by Duffy Layton was very impressive, even when competing with giant balloons, floats and celebrities. Corner flags on the wagon said "Circus World, Baraboo, Wisconsin". Several folks saw them and said "I thought that place had closed!" (As good a reason as any for the Museum to get wagons on the street wherever they can to remind the public that, even though the Great Circus Parade is "in hiatus", the Museum with its priceless collection of wagons is still in business.) Chuck Schlarbaum assembled a twelve piece band of top musicians from the ranks of Windjammers Unlimited. His music selections included "Greatest Show on Earth", "Bravura" and "Billboard"; the band belted them out in classic style and the music bounced off of the skyscrapers on Broadway to the cheers of the crowd. Even though our air time during the TV coverage was limited, Big Apple Circus is very pleased with the results. The entire parade entry said "circus" from top to bottom!
