I had the pleasure of working under both of the Vargas tops. The canvas one in 1974 with Clyde Bros. tiger act, and the and the Cannobio one in 1981 with the Hawthorn White tiger act. It was truely grand. But as the Col. pointed out earlier it did have a dark side, which probably would not be noted, if you were just visiting. Wade Burck

It sure did. The worst thing was no water wagon.
On some lots the show's water supply came from a spigot two blocks away in some little old lady's front yard.
After the last performance, with the water pressure being used up by everyone using their showers, only a trickle remained for the animals.
All you could do was hand the hose to each elephant and they would suck on it like a straw. Might be midnight before they all had enough. Rex would slide a short piece of metal pipe up the end of the hose to prevent impatient elephants from chewing the end off.
