Beatty-Cole 1960's-70's #3

PHOTO 3 (Beatty-Cole canvas, 7-70)
In the early 1990s, Beatty-Cole was the last of the big shows to
abandon the canvas tent. Shown here is the traditional white top, not
the striped variety cleverly pioneered by Cliff Vargas in the 1970s to
draw attention to his show when he began to exploit playing shopping
centers (not that he was the first to play them). Note the small
working crew, a problem of the time when Vietnam siphoned off young
males and when immigration laws were stricter. Again, this is
Springfield, Mass., on June 15, 1970.
