There have been more polar bear acts over the years than I was aware of.
John, I think a factor was because of our mode of transportaion by tractor/trailer as opposed to beast wagon's. Plus America's fondness for big cage act's and how many animals in the act was a factor. Then again, if you were lucky enough to see Ursula Bottcher, it didn't really matter if there were any more. Thanks, Wade. Ursula was awesome. I saw her act several times on the road and once at Circus World (FL)
John, let's not forget Albert Rix, and his bear's. There was a one of a kind act, and a one of a kind man. Polar bear cages are almost 3 times as big as tiger or lion cages. Legally, you can transport 14 tigers, in one semi. Imagine how many semi's you would need to transport Ursula's bears, plus the pool's. Wade Burck
