Speaking of which, I just got a tape of the Ringling show in 1969. I'd always heard that Bumpsy reported for Winter Quarters, was told that his salary would not be anywhere near what was promised and promptly turned on his heel and left.
But there his is, working the show with Danny Chapman, another clown I was told walked out after his experience with Clown College '68.
This is my favorite clown in all of the Blog to date. From the cigarette to the white non clown shoes, the Chaplin cane to the painted wig and crossed eyes, this guy knew what he was doing. I wonder if his clown is part of the China production from Unidentified # 6.

This looks to me as though it could be either Toto, who appeared at the NY Hippodrome, or someone from the same period strongly influenced by him.
