Yes this was Coney Island. If memory serves me there were two major amusement parks in Coney Island. Steeplechase and Luna park. I believe Dreamland was an atraction in one of them. Both parks at one time or another burned to the ground and were rebuilt. I believe Luna Park burned to the ground a second time and was never reconstructed. The parks had all types of attractions. Sideshows, little people villages, animal attractions, and of course rides. The big draw of course was the very large beach. During the early 2oth century many of New York's upper crust vacationed there. Sam Gumpertz who ran RBBB in the early 30's was very well connected managing one or the other of the parks. I think Steeplechase closed during the early 60's, Luna Park long before, and it was pretty well run down. Many new entertainment venues after WWII killed many of these sea side amusement attractions. Also as the population spread the demographics changed with people moving to the suburbs with beaches close by. Travel became much more reasonable and newer entertainment venues and places of interest were easier to get to. For those interested either the History Channel or Discovery Channel has aired a program documenting the history of Coney Island. It is quite interesting.I know they sell a VHS tape of the program and possibly now have a DVD available. Joe G
