RBBB 1955 "Smokey" #3

Recently we have seen pictures and comments of both the Red and Blue Show elephant herds combined for a picturre. Here we see 52 elephants being moved seven days a week with no great fanfare.
Smokey once mentioned to me that they had 104 stakes to drive in the menagerie each morning but some type automatic stake puller took them up at night.
He said that since 20 of the baby elephants were almost the same size, it was difficult for newcomers to tell them apart. Despite having their names on the front of the headpieces, it was still complicated for most.
He added that at night loading in the cars could be confusing without any lighting.Posted by Picasa
