I am pleased that my recall of Pablo is recognized and the lion I saw him do it with both times was a neutured male, and this is obviously a full maned male in all his glory. We could also talk about his grat act in general, but I suppose thats for another day.
I remember Pio Nock( I beleive) doing his act over Pablo's lions. This is how they got the lions into the ring without a total blackout or wasted time. Always thought it was a great act, but I was young then and don;t remember the whole routine. I think I only saw his act the last year on RBBB before Wolfgang came. Great photo, Thanks.
Darryl, You may have confussed the two acts. Pablo Noel was on the Blue unit ('72 - '73), Wolfgang Hotzmier was on the Red ('70* - '76). Pio Nock did the final portion of his high wire act over Wolfgang's (entering)lion act in '73 - '74. I understand that one time he fell into the cage (caused by cable anchor coming loose??)and Wolfgang picked him up and dragged him out before the lions figured out what happened.
(*Wolfgang was added the the program the 2nd year of the '69 - '70 red show tour)

This is without a doubt the best head in the mouth picture I have ever seen! Thank you Raffaele for posting this.
