Cole Bros. Circus 1946 Rolling Stock #9

Red Ticket Wagon

(So much comment on yesterday's photos that I decided to finish off the Wichita set. Unfortunately I was unable to find one with a different angle on #70, a mystery that will follow us all to the grave.) Posted by Picasa

During my early years at the CWM cHAPPIE fOX CALLED ME OVER TO THE WAGON shop and showed me this newly acquired ticket-office wagon to be restored. It wasn't in bad condition. I remarked, " O my God Chap I used to line up to get paid out of that wagon by Lorne Russell." Soon it was completely restored and Cap had it brought over and placed at the end of the railroad canapy next to the Moeller Hippodrome to be used as my office and dressing room for some five years. It was wonderful on his part and I cherish the thought to this day.

When Irvin Feld came to Baraboo to see us perform with intentions of bringing us to the GSOE the negotiations between he and I were conducted right in this particular wagon. A very pleasant and lengthy discussion and I never so overwhelmed and nervous in my life.
