Mr.Jacobs surely understood the essence of Comedy and brought it into the Circus Ring with such distinction, charm & style. A true ARTIST ! What a powerful charactor, within such an approate Realm.
This is my favorite scene when watching "The Greatest Show On Earth" movie. I recently showed this scene to a couple of children visiting my house as they did not understand what a contortionist was. They thought it was absolutely amazing. They then went back to the beginning of the movie and watched the entire film spell bound as they had never seen such feats! They commented on how "cool" it was because so much was happening in the show! Gee Ken and Nicole!
Tentative agreement has been reached between Cole Bros Circus owner John Pugh and Gopher Davenport with regard to the purchase of the two Cole Bros. Elephants, Tina and Jewel, by Davenport.
Bud, I don't think anyone could have put it any better.
These pictures of Lou performing the car gag are the very essence of what made me want to become a circus clown as a child and depict a standard of excellence that I strive for (but very seldom if ever reach) when I'm working today.
Lou was the quintessential clown for the classic three-ring American circus and I doubt seriously that he will ever be equalled or ever surpassed.
