Ringling Elephant Empress #1


Elephant looks like "Barnes Jewel" but I can't be sure. The "Elephant Empress" is also unknown but I would suggest this is an early 1940's publicity shot. Looks like the kind of stuff Miles White would come up with.

Does anyone else notice how healthy all the circus personel looked in the earlier years? Nowadays most people look like they are in need of a good meal and outdoor work. We all ate very well on the circus, but you seldom see an ounce of fat. Now not to be catty, but have you noticed how sickly these people who want to take our elephants look? Either skin and bones, pasty, stringy dirty hair or the reverse. Fat and dyed to the nines. Only a female would say this. Men just think it.
