My late friend, Historian Leonard Farley, spoke French, and for years was a welcome annual visitor to the Cirque d'Hiver--which he pronounced The DEE-vay. He knew all the Bouglione family, and I have his collection of programs and photos from them.
This building is the one seen in TRAPEZE (1956), and was established by Napoleon Bonaparte himself. There is tremendous history on the net.
