I once inquired of Johnny Pugh about those center pole flags, and he said circus fans had spoken for them seasons in advance. He also said that venerated 1947 Sparks ticket wagon the show was still using in 1964 could not be had for a million dollars. When I was there in '80 and '81, it was parked around back, subject to the Florida climate, and more than once I made my way inside to experience the atmosphere.

Wayne Franzen and company took that thing out and busted their ass to make a go of it. They were showfolks.
